Our Covid-19 Statement

The emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic has affected thousands of lives across Kenya and globally. We, at the Centre for Domestic Training and Development (CDTD) are deeply saddened by the unprecedented human suffering caused by the pandemic and its accompanying social, economic and political ramifications.

About Cdtd

Our mission extends beyond the programs and into the communities that we serve

CDTD

is a National, Non-Governmental Women’s Rights Organization that works towards better human rights and employment outcomes for Domestic Workers, especially girls and women in Kenya, through advocacy, skills training, job placement, education and protection.

Prior to the Centre’s inception in 2001, Edith Murogo employed domestic workers in her home and taught them home management skills. A unique employer, Edith strived to understand the challenges that faced this marginalized group. She treated them with respect and gained their respect in return. From a healthy and open relationship with her employees, she soon became aware of the stigma and tribulations associated with domestic workers and opened her home as a training and advocacy center for them.
